Q. We find kitchen salesmen and their tactics rather tiresome. How are you different? A. Currently we only have one designer, Cameron Pyke. From the moment you meet him you know that he is the real thing – a friendly, talented designer who is at the same time an accomplished woodworker and experienced fitter. You may feel carried along by his enthusiasm but there will be no high pressure salesmanship. He will never outstay his welcome. We always quote the real price as soon as we can; there are no price-drop manoeuvres. When we take on other designers we will be looking for people of the same calibre.
Q. What does the design process involve? A. The first visit will start with Cameron listening to your needs and discussing ideas whilst looking at samples and photographs from the portfolio. Later, he will take a full set of measurements. Architect’s drawings would be helpful if there is work in progress or about to be started. Very often Cameron can produce a very effective sketch during the first visit. Back at the office, plans are drawn up and costed. Cameron will be in touch as soon as possible and a further visit can be arranged to fine tune the plans. If you decide to place an order we will immediately arrange a survey. This is an essential part of the service, with both Bruce and Cameron present, ensuring a trouble-free installation.
Q. How long is it between placing an order and actual fitting? A. After the survey we need to produce a full set of detailed working drawings. This can take up to a week. Building furniture will normally take from 6 to 8 weeks. Towards the end of this period we will be in contact to arrange a mutually convenient delivery and fitting date.
Q. How long does the fitting process take? A. Most of our installations take about a week to fit. Large, complex projects have been known to take up to a fortnight. Granite worktops may cause a delay in completion. We will template for the granite as soon as the base cabinets are in place. The granite will usually be fitted about ten days later.
